Esplanade capital electron partners LP (‘ECEP LP”) is a long/short equity fund dedicated to public securities in solar energy and those sectors impacted by its emergence. The strategy seeks to deliver double-digit returns (net of fees and costs) capturing > 50% of upside returns in the solar index (ticker: SOLRX) while preserving capital during sector index declines, all with less than half of the index volatility. Having generated strong absolute and relative returns versus solar and energy indices since inception, the strategy is designed to generate long-term capital appreciation while managing downside risk in what can be an extremely volatile industry.

Weekend markets

Now bigger and better, the new esplanade markets get into full swing on the promenade (just by the lagoon) every saturday between 8am — 5pm. Look for the colourful cairns esplanade tents.

The markets feautre only locally made arts & crafts as well as specialty clothing, and live entertainment from interesting musicians is always playing. There are also crazy street characters like the butterfly man here on the right.

If you are a local producer of interesting products, crafts or art, call the inner city facilities office on 07 4044 3715 to ask about having a stall at the esplanade markets.

Free weekly fitness

Active health clubs currently run free weekly fitness activities four days a week in and around the esplanade lagoon.

All activities are 1h long, and are free of charge. At 6:30am in summer and 7:00am in winter, participants meet their active team member instructor directly in front of the change rooms before moving into the lagoon, or elsewhere for the class.

Monday & friday — aqua aerobics: lifeguards and a fully qualified instructor oversee the aqua aerobics, and can be done in most weather. During very heavy rain, the lagoon will be vacated.

Tuesday — yoga: bring a towel or mat to sit on and wear comfortable clothes. Yoga can be done in all weather, as the sound shell is used during the rain.

Wednesday — sarge's army boot camp (5:30am)

Thursday — pilates: bring a towel or mat to sit on and wear comfortable clothes. Pilates can be done in all weather, as the sound shell is used during the rain.

Saturday — sahaja yoga meditation: this operates at 7:30am all year round.

Shawn kravetz is president and chief investment officer of esplanade capital LLC, an investment management company he founded in 1999. Esplanade capital LLC manages capital for a small number of like-minded families, private investors, and institutions. Esplanade’s value orientation, driven by patient capital and proprietary research/analysis, has generated substantial outperformance versus benchmarks since inception. The firm specializes in smaller companies, out of favor & below the radar companies, special situations, and turnarounds.

Prior to founding esplanade, shawn was a corporate executive and strategic advisor, including: principal at the parthenon group, a leading strategy consulting boutique, where he advised chief executives on corporate strategy; director of strategic planning and corporate development at the CML group (NYSE traded), where he oversaw activities at subsidiaries including nordictrack, the nature company, and smith & Hawken; consultant with monitor company, a leading strategy consulting firm.

Shawn received an MBA with high distinction from harvard business school in 1995, where he was awarded: the thomas M. And edna E. Wolfe award; the henry ford II scholar award; and a baker scholarship. Shawn received an A.B. In economics from harvard university, magna cum laude, in 1991.

Shawn formerly served on the board of directors of nevada gold & casinos, inc. (ticker UWN, sold to maverick gaming LLC) where he was chairman of the corporate governance and nominating committee and a member of the compensation committee.

Shawn has also been active in his community, having served as: steering committee vice chairman of the museum of fine arts council at the museum of fine arts boston; member of the steering committee of the vilna center for jewish heritage; and treasurer of the PTO for the frances jacobsen early education center.

Shawn currently serves as trustee and chairman of the investment committee at temple israel, boston.
